Three Reasons I'm Stoked About the New Book, "Finding Church"

The book, Finding Church: Stories of Leaving, Switching, and Reforming, will be released in early December, 2012. The book is edited by Jeremy Myers and will consist of 36 stories by people who have either left their churches, switched to another church, or worked to reform their churches.

Finding Church, edited by Jeremy MyersFinding Church, edited by Jeremy MyersI’m super excited about this book and I’ll give you a few reasons:

  1.  I love hearing peoples’ stories. I always learn something new when I hear of an experience someone has had that was different than mine.
  2. I want to see what God is doing in the whole church beyond my local congregation. God works in all kinds of ways among his people. I can’t wait to hear about how God is at work in ways that may surprise me.
  3. Ok, this is a self-indulgent one, but… I’m one of the contributors! The chapter I wrote has to do with my church’s transition in terms of worship style. It was a change that was inevitable, but didn’t happen without some bumps along the way. It was a great learning experience for me. And I’ve learned since then that, while a changed worship style was by no means the salvation of our church, it did set the tone and the trajectory for the kind of church God is shaping us into.

I’ll keep you posted as I find out more about the release of Finding Church. Be sure to pre-order your copy here.
